Recreation Sites and Trails B.C. and the Shuswap Cycling Club with support from the Shuswap Trail Alliance will be hosting a Foundation Trails Workshop workshop with Mark Wood at the Rubberhead network on June 16th and 17th.

Since 2010, Mark led efforts to assemble a team of trained builders to reconstruct over 70km of dilapidated trails to bring the Shore back to its former glory. Creating the Builder Academy in 2011 to increase local capacity through knowledge, Mark began travelling the province, teaching the basics in sustainable building to other communities using the Shore as a case study.  In 2017 Mark created the Foundation, a workshop that offers a more refined, comprehensive approach to building and improving trails. Drawing upon his experience working on trail projects throughout BC, the focus is to build better trails through improved technique. Emphasizing the importance of an adaptable approach, the course seeks to harmonize methods with regional factors. The course takes participants through a 2 day process including a classroom theory followed by site assessments to determine issues and potential solutions.  On day 2, we sink our teeth into a dig project putting theory into practice.

We encourage anyone interested to sign up; space is limited to only 20 spots. Email if you would like to sign up.
