About

While there are many social trails on Kle7scéñ (Mt Ida), at this time, the Shuswap Trail Alliance has been asked by the Kle7scéñ Working Group not to advertise or promote these trails as they are not established. These trails are currently under review as part of comprehensive stewardship planning led by Secwépemc First Nations leadership. The iconic Kle7scéñ (meaning funny coloured rocks in Secwepemctsín) towers above Sxwesméllp (Salmon Arm Bay, meaning soopalallie bush in Secwepemctsín). It is an important cultural and sacred area in Secwepemúl'ecw. Leadership from the Secwépemc communities are working with provincial land managers, tenure holders, and local trail stewards to prepare a plan that guides future trails and recreational access, protects sensitive cultural and environmental sites, and engages everyone in taking care of the mountain.
